Doctor Mordrid (1992)

Doctor Mordrid (1992)

---
Horror/Fantasy Rated R
------------------------
Plot
---
Sorcerer Doctor Mordrid is the only thing that stops an evil force from taking over the world.
------------------------
Acting
---
Jeffrey Combs is first rate as always in the lead role and is well supported by the mostly unknown class.
------------------------
Gore
---
Very little blood, just a few gunshots and such.
------------------------
Sex/Nudity
---
A fully naked woman during a sacrifice,
------------------------
Final Thoughts
---
Another fun, though really silly and ridiculous story from early 90's full moon. The at times over the top storyline is realistically and well handled by both Charles and Albert Band, and in the end is a fun flick to turn off your mind to and enjoy.

War Gods Of The Deep (1965)

PLOT
-------------
A lost city is discovered off the Coast of Cornwall.

CAST
----------
Vincent Price.......................The Captain
David Tomlinson.................Harold Tufnell-Jones
Tab Hunter..........................Ben Harris
Susan Hart..........................Jill Tregillis
John Le Mesurier................Rev Jonathan Ives

SEX/GORE
-----------------
No gore some cleavage from the busty Susan Hart.

FINAL THOUGHTS
--------------------------
Jacques Tourneur best know for The Cat People and Curse of the Demon finishes his career with this picture which sadly is not the best way to remember him. The story involves a the disappearance of a young woman. When Ben and an artist named Harold try to rescue her. While searching they find a lost city beneath the sea. Once there they meet The Captain who runs the city full of Smugglers and sea creatures. With the volcano that powers the city due to erupt can anyone escape before it's too late?

While this isn't a bad film it does drag in the underwater chase sequence with close ups that are quite laughable. Throw in a chicken named Herbert and Vincent Price quoting Poe and you got a good rent but that's about all. Was released over seas as City Under the Sea.

Final Thoughts
--------------------
JJ Abrahams reimagining of the Star Trek universe was well received. The question is can a sequel do it justice? It most certainly can. After violating the Prime Directive to save Spock, Kirk is demoted and Admiral Pike regains the Enterprise. When a secret Starfleet installation is destroyed by John Harrison a rogue Starfleet agent a manhunt is on but Harrison Strikes first killing someone close to Kirk. Now it's up to Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise to bring him to justice.

This Trek adventure continues to honor the classic series with references to past episodes and continues to show how strong the cast really is. Spock and Kirks friendship takes center stage and really is becoming well defined. Fans of the series will really enjoy this outing.

Necrosis (2009)

Necrosis (2009)

Horror/Sci-Fi Not Rated

Plot
In 2009, six friends arrive at an isolated cabin to enjoy a long weekend in the snow. An epic snowstorm interrupts their vacation, trapping them on the mountain and resurrecting the haunting ghosts of the Donner Party. But, are they true 'entities' or is it simply 'cabin fever' that brings out their fears and darkness, causing friends to turn against each other as reality deteriorates around them.

Acting
The cast includes Several Recognizable Faces, with James Kyson Lee, George Stults, Tiffany, Penny Drake and Danielle DeLuca starring and cameos from Michael Berryman, and Mickey Jones. Although i feel like some of these cast members do indeed have some talent, all are very bad here. Some of the blame however, could certainly be blamed on the bad script.

Gore
A few brief scenes of cannibalism, and some minor blood splatter.

Sex/Nudity
During a dream sequence a women is seen topless while seducing a guy, but ends up eating his organs.

Final Thoughts
There are a plethora of recognizable faces in this movie, some of which have proven to be solid actors previously, but they really seem awful here, as the script has very poor dialogue, that really held the movie back. The story itself, which involved ghosts of the infamous Donner party, was not bad although I wasn't of big fan of the one major plot twist. The direction I also felt was pretty good, as no scenes really seems too out of place or random. A disappointing film overall , that I believe could have been pretty good had it had a better, script, specifically with the dialogue. It's also a movie that really could have been helped had it had alot of gore to go along with a decent story, and too take away from the verbal scenes a bit.

Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)

PLOT
------------
A young woman inherits a mansion with a killer locked inside.

CAST
------------
Alexandra Daddario...................................Heather Miller
Dan Yeager..................................................Leatherface
Tremaine Neverson....................................Ryan
Tanya Raymonde........................................Nikki
Shane Sipos.................................................Darryl
Karem Malicki-Sanchez..............................Kenny

SEX/GORE
------------------
Off screen sex and some cleavage. The Saw has some good gory moments.

FINAL THOUGHTS
--------------------------
This isn't a remake but a true sequel to the original film. Starting right were the classic film left off we get a great standoff with plenty of cameos that leads us to modern day. Young Heather Miller discovers a grandmother she never knew she had. This leads her to Texas in a van full of friends and a hitchhiker to her new home. However behind one locked door is a secret forgotten about for years. Now Leatherface is on a rampage and nothing will stop him. While there are some great moments seeing the cameos at the beginning make me hunger for the rest of the clan. It's a pretty good flick with enough nods to the past to make it worth a look.

The Itch (2009)

The Itch (2009)
Short/Horror Not Rated

Plot
A man has unprotected sex with a prostitute and slowly begins to mutate into a monster.

Acting
Very generic and underwhelming all around

Gore
The guys body oozes tons of green crap, then his organs start falling out and his body falls apart.

Sex/Nudity
A partially clothed sex scene

Final Thought
A very enjoyable short films, that would make a great entry into another edition of "Creepshow" good story, with one particularly enjoyable scene. I definitely recommend going to there site (site no longer active) and buying this movie along with full length feature "Morbid: A Love Story".

Mothers Day (1980)

CAST
-------------
Debora Luce..........................Jackie
Nancy Hendrickson................Abbey
Tiana Pierce............................Trina
Rose Ross...............................Mother
Holden McGuire.......................Ike
Billy Ray McQuade..................Addley

Sex/Gore
-----------------
Nudity, gore and rape all the elements of exploitation are here.

Final Thoughts
----------------------
Three best friends unwind every year by taking a camping trip.  This time they picked the wrong neck of the woods as they meet Mother and her boys. A family of hillbillies who are only out to rape and kill. Can the girls get away before they become the next victims?

Directed by Charles Kaufman who is Lloyd Kaufman's brother this is a pretty solid exploitation flick. All of the elementd are there. The hillbillies are creepy but childlike at times as Mother keeps them in line.As far as a rape revenge flick it's solid. Banned for it's content in the U.K in 1980 and hated by crititcs like Roger Ebert Mother's Day went on to gain a cult status. If youra fan of Troma films is definately one of there better pictures and fits the Holiday Horror genre well.

CAST
---------------
Adam Scarimbolo.....................Jim
Emily Grace..............................Doreen
Greg Travis...............................Tex
Heidi Kristoffer.........................Jen

SEX/GORE
----------------
A few breasts and some over the top gore.

Final Thoughts
------------------
I like holiday themed horror films. This one however just isn't worth a look. While the story starts out ok the script starts changing. Some the actors go from likable to awful. Plot points are not resolved.Throw in awful acting and there isn't anything worth watching. Skip this one. This is 78 minutes I will never get back.

Witches of the Caribbean (2005)

Witches of the Caribbean (2005)

Fantasy/Horror Rated R

Plot
A troubled young girl travels to an island in the Carribean for therapy after a recurring dream about the island disrupts her sleep. While there, she meets a host of other troubled teenagers, who may well be more than what they seem
Acting
Average-Above average, certainly better than expected.

Gore
Several hearts are ripped out (physically, not emotionally)

Sex/Nudity
None, but there are a lot of scantily clad people of both genders, and there's a 4 way make out scene in a pool/hot tub.

Final Thoughts
Despite what is a very cheesy and unoriginal plot, I enjoyed the story a good bit, and found a lot of the actors/characters to be fairly interesting. While it certainly would of likely benefited from some more gore and/or nudity, to me, its still worth seeing and certainly not one of David DeCoteau's worst.
